Many houses are adorned with at least one ceiling fan. Ceiling fans are immensely practical. They are used not only for cooling purposes, but to serve as decorative pieces as well. In fact, many ceiling fan/lighting fixture combinations can function as a focal point in a room.

If you have been to Thingz then you already know.  Expect the unexpected!  We recently created a bed and headboard in our Scottsdale showroom out of a wonderful new, customizable fabric panel.  Why you ask?  Because we can of course!  In truth, many people find it better to go for a bed without an attached headboard. An existing headboard is somewhat limiting. A headboard, after all, goes beyond its function of retaining your pillows and bed linens. Many headboards have become the focal point in a bedroom. They are there to offer drama, beauty, and function. Using our customizable wall panel system, you can do so many things with your headboard. You can style up a bare wall. You can pad it with upholstered cushions to have something soft to lean against when you sit up. You can even add a shelf for books and knickknacks or a hidden compartment for keeping important stuff safe. In any of these cases, it would be smart to maximize the presence of a headboard to highlight your sleeping quarters.

It’s very rare for a home, even the most minimalist ones, not to have at least one rug on the floor. Rugs are present in most cultures and there is such a variety to choose from that they literally come in all shapes, sizes, materials and designs. They can be extremely functional or highly decorative. Certainly, they can be both simultaneously. Many rugs function to be protective.

Back in the days of Frank Lloyd Wright and the other pioneers of the modern style of interior design, the movement was represented in homes by the limited blending of white and black. Mostly, it was white that dominated. The monotony of color was pierced by some black or chrome material with crisp, sharp lines to break the blinding starkness. That decorating flair was necessary, of course, as it was the element that spelled the difference between sterility and sophistication. Minimalism was the name of the game and while the concept now remains essential in the contemporary approach at modernism, the color wheel has edged its way in through the passing of the years. The color white continues to be a key component in many modern homes, but bolder colors such as lime and tangerine are now welcome, even if usually appearing in fits and bursts, frequently a singular splash of color that produces a dramatic contrast in the room’s palette.
